Henge’s stands conquer the 2017 Furniture Fair and the ICFF for their elegant lightness, in rooms with color contrasts and suspended volumes.
The year 2017 is one that has allowed us to savor the best in international design: only halfway through, it has already surprised the art world with innovative features that will lead the way for new frontiers in experimentation. The events that best represent the constant evolution of design and its forms have been well-attended by the best names in architecture who have presented their new ideas at the biggest international extravaganzas. In this era of scenic and cultural triumph, a distinctive
factor among many leading brands appears to be the study of materials, investigating the relationship between man and his tactile and visual instincts to create objects that stimulate the senses. Henge, with its vital approach to Made in Italy craftsmanship, asserts itself once again as the caretaker of this relationship between man and design, presenting its
new collection on the most celebrated stages of international interior design. At the 2017 Furniture Fair, the Henge stand shines with its structures, freed from heaviness, that highlight their fine craftsmanship and unique materials an incarnation of Henge’s design know-how and ability to play with space.
Henge’s manufacturing workshop introduces new finishes to expand the available range. The H Silver finish is offered in two versions, the H Silver S, Henge’s distinctive burnished silver with a shinier and brighter note, while the H Silver Black, a darker burnished finish, features a more intense feel; the H Drama offers a veined brass finish. The new Shine Brass processes in glossy brass, and the brass and bronze sand casting technique creates an irregular textural matte effect. However, the success of the Furniture Fair pushes beyond any limitations: Mood 2017 redesigns the sensorial experience of the space at 7 Via della Spiga. It becomes a living, organic project that reinvents itself year after year and and celebrates its incredible customization potential. The Henge home constantly evolves into contemporary shapes and combinations, while its DNA changes gradually, adding parts and paths to follow in its research journey.
The 2017 collection represents Henge’s contemporary view, one from the foreseeing eye of Massimo Castagna, who designed the entire collection and its feel-shaping mood: a perfect balance between design, art references, combinations of unexpected and original materials, pure Made in Italy craftsmanship and technology.
Added to Massimo Castagna’s project is the collaboration and contribution of the acclaimed design duo, George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg, from the Yabu Pushelberg Studio. The long partnership between Yabu and Pushelberg began in 1972 in Toronto where they first met. Since then, their studies, work and life kept their creative bond strong as they increased their ability to shape their own distinctive identities. The Yabu Pushelberg Studio is now one of the most influential design firms in the world, redefining how people experience and interact with the beauty taking shape around them. The continuous interchange between their two minds and four hands in every process leads to the creation of honest, imaginative pieces, composed of rationality and intuitive thought.
Every piece Yabu and Pushelberg give life to is a tool made of raw feelings that resonates in an unexpected and highly emotional connection with the home and those who live in it. With his thoughtful research and attention to materials and the way they change the atmosphere of each space, Castagna put together a stunning, earthy collection, which included Yabu Pushelberg’s Mushroom Tables, the metallic coffee tables that the studio designed for Henge. With complementary sizes and strong individuality, the system creates skylines in a light form, which is accentuated by the champagne finish. It is an echo of minimalism that resonates in natural shapes that are converted and restored to their essential lines, painting a clean mood with stunning materials and warmth.
A new, charming finish for Mushroom Tables was introduced at the 2017 Furniture Fair and was then brought to the stage of another great design world event: the ICFF, NYC. From May 21 to May 24, the design spotlight pointed directly at New York City for another incredible edition of ICFF, during which an exclusive and dedicated space for Henge appeared inside the outstanding DDC showroom, NYC. A special project conceived by Henge, it features a blend of the brand’s most iconic pieces, including the latest collection designed by Massimo Castagna and the exclusive collaboration with the Yabu Pushelberg Studio.
Under the artistic direction of Massimo Castagna, the brand writes the quality manifesto of excellence-oriented, unique materials and shapes.
It has been a promising year that will continue to astonish, laying the foundations for a new Henge journey into materials and its specialty of transforming them into one-of-a-kind pieces.
